PMI Columbus GA Chapter
Chapter Officers Roles and Responsibilities
Did you know that most of PMI’s work is done by volunteers?
PMI was founded by volunteers – people who wanted to enhance the profession of project management, share new ideas, and reap the benefits of expanding connections and career advancement opportunities.
By sharing their time, experience and expertise, PMI volunteers:
- Develop leadership and business skills by serving on our chapter board of directors or by taking part in local events and activities
- Benefit from a wide variety of educational, networking, and career-advancing opportunities
- Build professional networks and benefit from relationships with other project managers
The Columbus Georgia Chapter of PMI is no different from other chapters!
Work is done by volunteers who hold positions of leadership on the local chapter board. These leaders serve chapter members in a variety of ways to provide educational and networking opportunities that enhance and grow individuals in the profession of project management. Each board member contributes to the success of the chapter through independent and collaborative work to achieve goals designed specifically by the board, for the chapter, and for its community. Whether it is program development, event marketing, fiscal responsibility or technical support, there are many ways to utilize the skills you have or would like to develop through board leadership. If you would like to serve on the board or provide on-going volunteer support for any of these functions, please complete the volunteer application found on this site.
Elections are held each year, and officers serve a two-year term. According to chapter bylaws, board positions are staggered so that only half of the officers are replaced each year, adding greater consistency and overlap of board responsibilities. Some positions are appointed, such as the Webmaster, Youth and Social Impact Coordinator and Military Coordinator so that community relations and technical support has greater consistency over time.
The link below provides greater insight into the roles and responsibilities of all board positions.
