Welcome New Board Officers Sandra Jernigan, PMP and Sam Cofer, PMP!
Meet our new VP of Governance, Sandra Jernigan, PMP!! She is a PMP Certified Portfolio Manager at Synovus. Sandra will be helping us with our chapter bylaw updates, creating our chapter operating manual and making sure there are no conflict of interest among any volunteers so they can represent our chapter in the best way possible.
A little more about Sandra...
Sandra Jernigan is currently working as a Portfolio Manager for the Marketing Division at Synovus. She recently retired from Aflac where she performed the roles of Portfolio Manager, Program Manager, and Service Performance Manager. Sandra also served on various committees such as Diversity Council, Employee Council, Regulatory Executive Committee. She has been a guest speaker for the Women’s Leadership Conference in Columbus, volunteer at various local schools, mentor for CSU students, previously on the technology review board at CVCC, involved in Women of Technology committee, member of PMI, member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and a member of T.A.G.
Sandra has recently received her PMP certification and she has previously earned a Scrum, ITIL, Six Sigma Green Belt certificatification. She is currently studying to take the Portfolio Certification with PMI.Sandra has a Bachelor of Science degree at Troy University and a master’s degree in Consumer Quality Management from The University of Alabama.
On her free time, she enjoys meeting new people, reading, camping, fishing, going to the gym, traveling, and cooking.
Meet our new Webmaster, Sam Cofer, PMP!! He is a PMP Certified Enterprise System Manager at Auburn University. Sam will be helping us with all chapter webmaster activities.
A little more about Sam...
Sam received his Bachelor of Business Administration, Information Systems Management, from Harding University. After college, Sam moved to Chicago, IL to start his first job at Allstate Investments, a subsidiary of Allstate Insurance. While there he pursued and received his Masters of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University, Naperville, IL. Has been married to Katherine for 10 years and has one daughter, Audrey (3).
Sam worked in Information technology at Allstate as a PL/SQL development, until he was promoted to the Desktop, Helpdesk and Windows Support Manager. While at Allstate Investments he transitioned to lead the Unix and DBA group in 2014. In 2015, Katherine’s doctoral program brought him to Auburn, AL, where he started as the Enterprise System Manager for Auburn Unversity Office of Information Technology. In this role he manages a team of nine System Engineers responsible for the University’s core ERP, Banner, as well as all systems that support/interact with the Banner environment. He has recently gotten his PMP and is enthusiastically looking forward to supporting the PMI Columbus Chapter. He is an active member of PMI and the PMI Columbus Chapter.
